Cafe Parisian Mini Album

a Country Crafts Creations Design Team Project

Today I'd like to share my November project for Country Craft Creations.  I've used Graphic 45's Cafe Parisian in a 5 page 8 1/2" square mini album.  The front, shown above, was created using two identical sheets of the 8x8 paper pad. I trimmed elements from the top sheet, took the bottom sheet and glued a sheet of Heartfelt Creations acetate paper (clear plastic) over the top.  The fussy cut sheet was then positioned and elevated using 3M foam tape to give the illusion of the girls at a table behind the glass and the server in front. I love how it turned out. You can see all the dimension you get from this side photo when you use the three layers this way.

On the inside front cover and the first page I combine the White Flat Heart Lace and the peach dyed Seam binding from the store weaving the one through the other.  I also added chipboard elements to create stoppers for interest.  The pocket on the right has gussets along the edge to allow for plenty of loose photos besides those placed on the mats.  All the chipboard pieces were sprayed with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in Iridescent Gold.  I tried to pick this up on the video but it's extremely hard to show.  In real life you get a wonderful glisten to all these elements.  Notice the stem of the cherry on the inside cover, It's made with a piece of jewelry wire.

The next two pages incorporate the striped paper. I used a circle punch to cut the tabs from the paper and added them as the pulls for the mats. The ribbon tied buttons create the tab.  I've clusterd lots of elements from the paper and Chipboard pieces to create my stoppers and pockets throughout the book.  The photo to the right shows the top right page opened to reveal a journaling mat and the photo mats.

Here's the next page.  The pocket ribbon is created by gluing a scrap strip of paper to the middle of the seam binding and then gluing both ends to the page, tucking the tails to the back for a finished look.  This is a fabulous effect for your books.  By added the paper strip you strengthen the seam binding to create a nice pocket or element for your page.  I added a simple bow around the lower end to finish the look and tucked a couple of photo mats behind.

On the corresponding page I snipped the hinge in half in the middle and removed about 1/4".  This allowed me to make two small flip pages for the top and bottom in place of one full page.  I used the Martha Stewart decorative edge and corner Deco Fan punches to accent the ends.  Both have tags tied with seam binding and mats.

The next page is secured with a magnet under the bow element on the lower right.  When opened you have the top, middle and bottom for large photos or journaling.  I used an Ephemera card for the pock above the punched decorative bottom and simply folded two more Ephemera cards to create mini tuck ins.  You can see peeking out the right side is a decorative mat, I left the end open to provide a pocket.  You have the option to do this on any of the sides or tops by not gluing all around when securing the pages to the book.

Here on the left I added another Ephemera card for the pocket and a belly band to the right to hold lots of mats and photos. The flowers on the bottom left were cut a second time and popped with foam tape in the middle to give dimension to the page. The large chipboard piece on the right was left free but could be glued at the bottom if items begin to fall out of the book.  The belly band is finished out with a chipboard file tab on the top left, again, all these chipboard elements were sprayed with Glimmer Mist to give a real glisten to the page.

Here's the last page on the left with a pocket created from the chipboard and fussy cut pieces from the 8x8 pad. I might mention that everything in the book was inked with Tim Holtz Distress ink in Rusty Hinge.

This is the back inside cover.  It houses a large envelope with a bifold booklet inside and a chipboard stopper on the bottom right to fit tuck ins behind.  I finished it up with the lace and inserted seam binding to match the front of the book.

I hope you've enjoyed this visual walk through of my mini.  Please join me on the video below for a much more indepth look with other snippets of how and why I did what.  Also I will include many more still photos.  Supplies from Country Craft Creations will be directly below the store links under the video.

Thank you for sharing your time with me!  Patti
